Faster access to pharmacist-led healthcare
The Common Conditions Service offers professional healthcare advice and treatment for eight common illnesses—directly through your local pharmacy.
How it works:
Visit us: If you suspect you or your child has one of the eight conditions listed below, simply walk in or pre-book a consultation at Ballyhooly Road Pharmacy.
Get a diagnosis: Our pharmacists will complete a clinical consultation to assess your symptoms.
Receive treatment: Following an HSE-designed protocol, we will provide self-care advice. Where appropriate, we can also supply specific prescription-only medicines—saving you a trip to the GP.
Please note: If your symptoms fall outside the inclusion criteria for these specific conditions, we may safely refer you to another healthcare professional.
What conditions can our team diagnose and treat?
Allergic rhinitis & allergic conjunctivitis (2 years and over)
Cold sores (1 month and over)
Infective Conjunctivitis (6 months and over)
Impetigo (2 months and older)
Oral thrush (1 month and older)
Shingles (18 years and over)
Uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI) in women (16-64 years)
Vulvovaginal thrush (16-60 years)

Infective Conjunctivitis (6 months and over)
Impetigo (2 months and older)

Uncomplicated urinary tract infection (UTI) in women (16-64 years)

You can simply walk-in to avail of a consultation, or if you prefer, you could pre-book an appointment at a time convenient for you!

Following a consultation, our pharmacist will provide advice and recommend a suitable treatment, which might include a course of antibiotics, if appropriate.

There is a €35 charge for the pharmacist consultation, where the pharmacist can prescribe medicine to treat your condition, if suitable.
Prescribed medicines are eligible to be dispensed under the medical card and drug payment schemes as per usual.

Yes. If prescribed a medicine, you can choose to have it dispensed at another pharmacy.
